With Contractor Management, you stay the contracting party — Mellow runs the payouts and admin while you keep the direct relationship. With Contractor of Record, Mellow becomes the contracting party, so the compliance of engaging contractors moves to us, including in challenging markets and high‑risk jurisdictions.
New Contractor of Record clients start at 3.5% of payout volume for their first three months. After that, your rate settles between 3.5% and 5.5% based on monthly volume — the more you pay out, the lower your rate.
Contractor Management covers 100+ countries. Contractor of Record reaches 150+, including operationally complex markets and regions with limited payment access that most global platforms can’t serve.
Contractor of Record is for engaging contractors, not employees, so it isn’t the same as EoR. When employment is involved, full EoR is available through our partners on the Mellow Partner plan.
None. You pay the flat fee on Contractor Management or the percentage of payout volume on Contractor of Record — and nothing on top of that. On the Mellow Partner plan, custom payment fees are agreed openly upfront.
